Since it was established in 1981, Cumann Gaelach Leath Chathail has been the pulse of the Irish speaking community in the Lecale District.
we have become the voice and the focus for Lecale Irish-speakers, through the organisation of monthly social events, trips, weekly language classes and annual school competitions. We have founded a nursery school and a primary school, an after school club and an annual summer scheme. We work to serve the needs of Irish speakers in every aspect of life and have opened a dialogue with the local council and public service providers about meeting the unique needs of Irish speakers here in every sector.
We are a charitable organisation, non party in politics and non sectarian in religion. Our social make up is diverse, with different classes, creeds, ages and genders all represented.
On this website, you will find information about our events, activities and campaigns. We hope that it will not just provide a record but that it will provide a channel of communication for Irish speakers.
